Show Iron County Signs Agreement on Fire Prevention The Iron County Commission, meeting in regular session Monday, Mon-day, approved a cooperative agreement with the State, Bureau Bur-eau of Land Management and Forest Service in a program of surpressing and preventing fires in the area during the critical summer season. J. D. Dockstader, southern Utah forester, met with the board to present and discuss the cooperative coopera-tive agreement program. Ask for Certification The commission also authorized author-ized the County Clerk to advise the State Juvenile Court that the Juvenile detention facilities located at the Valley View Medical Medi-cal Center in Cedar City, is now ready for use. A certificate was ahio requested by the State and the State' Welfare Department was asked, in the letter, to meet with the Iron County Commission Commis-sion to work out an agreement on costs in personnel and meal expenses. A delegation from the Parowan City Chamber of Commerce met with the commission to request funds for development of a road from Yankee Meadow to Pan-guitch Pan-guitch Lake, and also for assistance assis-tance on signs in the Iron Conrty area. Soma Work Each Tear The delegation requested some work on the proposed road be designated annually until such time as it has been completed. The commission reported that funds were limited and pointed out that the requested road would have partial use during the year with many roads In the county being utilized on a year-round year-round basis. The request was taken under consideration for further study. The delegation also requqested funds from the county advertising advertis-ing budget for the erection of a sign north of Cedar City concerning concern-ing the at' Tactions in and around Parowan. They also suggested that the county place signs north of Parowan and south of Cedar City promoting the winter sporting sport-ing activities. No action was taken on the requests. To Attend Meet Comissioner Ivan Matheson was authorized to attend a meeting meet-ing of the Executive Committee of the Utah State Assn. of County Coun-ty officials to be held at Salt Lake City June 23. James A. Mercer of Parowan was appointed Justice of the Peace for Parowan Precinct to succeed Don Applegate, who resigned re-signed to accept other employment. |
