Show Council Approves Little League Program, Use of City Power at Vermilion Castle Camp At the regular meeting of the Parowan City Council on Monday evening, three matters of important import-ant business was acted upon by the group with Councilman Morris Mor-ris Rasmussen presiding in place of Mayor Osmer Nielsen, who is in the Pacific Northwest on a business trip. Definite arrangements for the continuing of the Little League baseball program in Parowan was made with George B. Loosl-ley Loosl-ley named as chairman of the program for this summer, and an appropriation of $250 from the recreation fund made to defray de-fray the equipment expense. The council went ahead with these arrangements, because Mr. Loosely had already got the program pro-gram started, with team sponsors arranged for and coaches and managers named for several of the participating teams. Foyer Olsen Dixie Forest Ranger Ran-ger for this district, and another I member of the Dixie Forest Staff, met with the Council regarding the improvements made and contemplated by his office at the Vermilion Castle Recreation area. Mr. Olson told of the improve-1 ments that had been made there1 and of others that are to be and met with the council to work out arrangaments for the continued use of power from the Parowan system and water from the Pdr-owan Pdr-owan water lines, connecting the city with the Six Mile Spring. The Forest Service representatives representa-tives reported that the work of putting the power lines around the recreation area under ground is being completed and that the various picnic areas as well as the newly constructed ultra-modern rest rooms will be provided with lighting and they were interested in-terested in knowing if the city would go along with the forest in the furnishing of these facilities facili-ties in the future. i Mr. Ols.'n was assured by the Council that the city would co-operate co-operate with the forest servi'-e in ' this program of water ar.d !::', t-ing t-ing development. It was intirnct- : ed that plan may be worked out ' whereby the forest service can reimburse the cit yfor a portion of the power used above a certain cer-tain load. The Council spent considerable time working on a tentative budget bud-get for the 1964-65 fiscal year and at the close of the session approved ap-proved the tentative budget and issued a call for a hearing on it to be held at the next meeting, slated for Monday, June 22, at 8 p. m in the city office. |
