Show $60.00 NEEDED Cedar Stake Opens Fund Drive For Stake House Chapel Renovations The Cedar Stake Presidency lias announced that the stake is c-onductlng a finance drive to provide funds for a stake building build-ing program which includes complete com-plete renovation of both ward buildings in the Cedar Stake, the construction of a new stake center cen-ter which will accommodate two wards, and provision:; Jo making mak-ing the final payment on the Indian In-dian Branch Chapel. This program will require approximately ap-proximately $ti(M),0(K) in cash and labor. Under the LDS Church's new Missionary Building program the stake will have to raise only ten ter cent of the full amount, or SGO.0O0. The Church will then match this $60,000 with 60 of the total cost or $360,000. The remaining 30'c will come from donated and missionary labor on Jthe tactual construction work. A Stake Building Finance Com-mittee Com-mittee has been appointed with Elton Jones as Chairman. As their first official act the committee com-mittee has drawn up and distributed distri-buted pledges to every family in the Cedar Stake with the recommendation recom-mendation that each family voluntarily contribute two percent per-cent of its yearly income to the program. Air. Jones pointed out that -while $60,000 is a lot of money .it Is relatively small sum when thought of in the terms of a $600,000 building program. He further pointed out that the Seventh Ward in Cedar City has had to raise nlomst $170,000 cash iur i-unairucUoii uia building i to be used by one or two wards, while under this new missionary program the entire Cedar Stake will have to raise only $60,000 cu for work on four buildings, including the construction of a new, modern stake center. It is hoped that the pledges will be returned to the Bishops of the individual wards as soon as possible. The goal of the finance fin-ance committee is to have the $60,000 in the bank by Sept. 1, if at all possible in order to start on the renovation of the two ward buildings this fall. Contributions Contri-butions toward this building fund will be greatly appreciated regardless of whether they come from members of the Cedar Stake, LDS Church members not of the Cedar Stake, or even members mem-bers of faith other than the LDS Church. It is felt by all concerned concern-ed that this building program, in addition to providing much needed facilities, will greatly improve im-prove the appearance and add to the value of the areas in which these buildings are and will be located. i |
