Burton, chairman of the streets and sidewalks committee. com-mittee. He states that the gravel has been crushed, placed in windrows win-drows on the two east streets of the city, and has now been mixed mix-ed with oil. The first of th oi! mulch was laid on Tuesday with 100 East Street from 200 South 400 North receiving is surface. Other city streets, badly in need of the surfacing sur-facing will be done with the hauling of the mulch to continue until all that has been mixed is on the streets. The project is being done under un-der a cooperative agreement with the State Highway Department. Parowan City had Parry Sand and Gravel Co. come in and crush 10,000 tons of g'lvel, with the city using 3000 tons, and exchanging the other 7000 tons to the state. In return the state furnished the oil, which it could get more advantageously, for the city project, and used its equipment equip-ment in mixing and laying the oil. City officials state that a seal coating program for the improved im-proved streets is also included in the agreement. A supply of chips is also being be-ing crushed for the city and state under the program while the crusher is here, according to Mr. Burton. |
