Show Interagency Committee Recommendations Recommendations covering the state of Utah fall bis game seasons sea-sons are now being compiled by the Interagency Committee following fol-lowing meetings held throughout through-out the state during the past ten days. The recommendations for each big game herd are submitted to the Utah Board of Big Game Control Con-trol for study and guidance in setting fall hunts. They include game and range data gathered during the past year regarding herd and forage conditions. During the public meetings of the Board these Interagency Committee Com-mittee findings for each of the big game herds are read and the reasons for them explained. Board members then receive hunting recommendations from individuals and organization attending at-tending the public meetings. Following the public meetings, now scheduled for June 19 in Ogden, June 22, Cedar City; June 23 in Richfield, June 24 in Drag-erton, Drag-erton, June 25 in Vernal and June 26 in Salt Lake City, all big game seasons are then set, based upon committee and public pub-lic recommendations as they have been submitted. The Interagency Committee was formed by the Board many years ago to act as a fact finding find-ing body concerning all big game and range conditions. The members include management and field personnel of the department de-partment of fish and game, U. S. Forest Service, and U. S. Bureau of Land Management. In big game matters, other than the opening of the general deer season, the Big Game Board sets the policy. This opening, October Oc-tober 17 this year, is set by legislative leg-islative law as the Saturday on or nearest to Oct. 20. |
