For Diamond Win ' On the windswept diamond in Cedar City the Cedar Kedmen pounded out 20 hits and scored as many runs in chalking up a I win over Woodward of St. George j Monday afternoon. The win j avenged a defeat suffered at the i hands of Woodward in the open-. open-. ing game of the season. i j Woodward also duplicated its j hitting with runs, but collected I only 12 off the pitching of Neil j Petty. j , Th Redmen chalked up a convincing con-vincing early lead with the big push in the fourth inning when Coach Ray Englestead's men collected col-lected 12 runs. At the end of four frames of play the Cedar crew held a 16 to 3 advantage. Petty went all the way for the Redmen with Gayle Simkins and Travis Nelson sharing the catching catch-ing duties. Three members of the Dixie squad saw mound action ac-tion Including Ar.'en and Rich-' ard Hafen and Hirschl. Pickett completed the batter and Arlen Hafen was charged with the loss. . Sheldon Sargent led the Red-men Red-men In the hitting department, collecting six hits in as many, trips to the plate.
