Show Utah Education Board Nominations Made at Special Meet Nominations for the election of a representative from District No. 5 to the Utah State Board of Education Ed-ucation were made at a special nominating meeting held in Cedar Ce-dar City. The meeting was vety poorly attended, however, how-ever, although representatives from the three northern counties had conferred with Iron and Washington county delegations and made recommendations on the selection of candidates for the position. Nominees However, three men were placed In nomination for the position, po-sition, and their names will appear ap-pear on a non-partisan ballot at the general election In November No-vember 6, including W. C Coles of Delta, Roy E. Gibson of Nephi and Morgan Rollo, of Cedar City. The position Is currently held by W. O. Bentley of St George who has served on the board for the past 18 years. A delegation of Washington County people was present and voiced the opinion opin-ion that that county should relinquish re-linquish representation on the board to one of the other counties, coun-ties, and announced that the county did not have a candidate for the position. In the past the members of the ' State Board of Education have been elected by the mem-berk mem-berk of local ' school boards throughout the state. New legislation legis-lation adopted at the last session of the legislatures provides, however, how-ever, that the board members shall be elected on a non partisan parti-san ballot at the general election elec-tion In November. - |
