Show Funeral Services Conducted For Parowan Matron Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon for Anna Louisa Lou-isa Rasmussen, 84. highly respected re-spected resident of Parowan, who passed away at her home here on Saturday morning following a long Illness. The services were held in the Parowan First Ward chapej with LeRoy Adams of the ward bishopric presiding, and burial took place in the city cemetery cem-etery under the direction of the Southern Utah Mortuary. Speakers were Howard Joseph and F. C. Van Buren with opening open-ing remarks by Mr. Adams. The Prayer at the home was offered by Hugh L. Adams. The opening open-ing prayer at the services was given by Ray II. Adams, the closing clos-ing prayer was by a grandson. Elwyn Haltermand, and at the cemetery the grave was dedicat-ed dedicat-ed by Ben Smith, of St. George. Musical numbers were as follows: fol-lows: a vocal solo, "Beyond the Sunset," by Mrs. Fonda Beck-stead, Beck-stead, accompanied on the piano by Georgia Rasmussen, the latter a granddaughter of the deceased; a vocal solo, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine," by Howard Knight, with Mary Lyman at the piano, and a vocaj solo, "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose," by Mary O. Topham, also accompanied accompan-ied by Mrs. Lyman. June M. Decker was at the organ for prelude pre-lude and postlude music. Mrs. Rasmussen was born In Pangultch Sept. 14. 1871, a daughter of Peter Nells and Louisa Loui-sa Haddon Mortensen, but spent most of her life In Parowan. She married John T. Rasmussen In Parowan on Nov. 25. 1891 and they observed their 64th wedding anniversary last November. During Dur-ing their early married life they took part In the colonization of the Bighorn Basin In Wyoming at the turn of the century and went with a group from Parowan Paro-wan to settle the, town of Cowley, Cow-ley, Wyo, and remained there for a number of years. Survivors are her husband, and the following sons and daughters: daugh-ters: Clayton and Morris Rasmussen Rasmus-sen and ButeUa Halterman, Parowan; Par-owan; Frank Rasmussen and Golda Brunner of Los Angeles'. Calif; Mondell Rasmussen, Cedar City, and Otto Rasmussen, Bur- ley, Idaho. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 33 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, and three brothers, broth-ers, Enoch L. Mortensen, Salt Lake City; Joseph R. Mortensen, Delta, Utah, and John Mortensen, Parowan. |
