Show THURSDAY, MAY 3 ON LOCAL FIELD CEDAR TO STAGE REGION VI MEET The Cedar City High School 'will pjay host on Thuisday, Mayj 3 to the schools of Region Six in the Regional Track and Field meet. The meet will "be under! the direction of Coach Glen Jack-! son. In addition to the track and field events a tennis meet will also be staged. As in the past first and second place winners in ' the Regional meet will be entered enter-ed automaticaily in the state class B meet and the third place , winners can be entered in the state provided the school they represent will pay expenses. The Region Six meet will get under way on the Cedar High School field at 9:30 a.m. Thursday Thurs-day with trials of the shot put and pole valut. In addition to these two events trials will be held In the tOO. 220, and 440 yard dashes; the 120 yard high hun'.'es and the 220 yard low hurdles; the discus, high ump. Javelin and broad Jump. In each of these events' six men will : qualify for the finals which will be held in the afternoo.t Finals will start at 1:30 p.m. with the 120 yard high hurdles. Time for the finals and the Region Six record in that event are listed as follows; 1:30: 120 H hurdles, Hirschi. Hurricane. :15.2. Shot put, Moody, 1 Delta. 497V. Broad Jump, Ford, Kanab, 20'10". 2:30: 180 yard low hurdles', Pendleton, Dixie, Tremble, Millard Mil-lard and Fullmer, Delta. :21.5. 2:40: SS0 yard run. Perkins Cedar. 2:07.1. Discus, Moody, Delta. It is expected that all schools of the region will enter some men in the annuaj event. That would include Cedar. Dixie, Hurricane, Hur-ricane, Enterprise, Kanab,, and Orderville In the Dixie division and Parowan, Beaver, Millard Delta and Ml' ford In the Millard Mil-lard division. Beaver, who won the Dixie Invitational meet this year will be one of the stronger entries this year, Jackson indicated. I |
