Show Council Studies Need ' For Building Permit Restrictions i The City Council, sitting In reg- ular session. Thursday evening , tentatively gave approval to an- , other subdivision within the I city, subject to final approvaj of the Cedar City Planning Commission. Com-mission. The subdivision, known as the Southwood Subdivision, is located locat-ed west of 700 West Street and south of GOO South Street. Other action Included the approval ap-proval for the purchase of curb and gutter forms for use in neighborhood projects. Mayor Arnold Anderson was given the responsibility of working out a feasible rental fee for the forms and setting up a system governing govern-ing the use of the forms. City Attorney Patrick H. Fen-ton Fen-ton was Instructed at the meeting meet-ing to draw up a tentative ordinance ordi-nance in connecion with subdivisions subdi-visions that would restrict the letting of building permits In the subdivisions until such time as streets In that area have been brought to grade. The need for this ordinance has become apparent in a number num-ber of Instances In the rapid development de-velopment of areas this past year. In some areas of the city where homes have been built and curb and gitters InstaJled prior to the bringing of those streets up to grade, it Is found that sidewalks are Is much as' four feet higher than the contemplated con-templated street level. In another Instance where a street was being brought to grade sewer and water lines were found to be higher than the street level. lev-el. In stiU other sections where development has been gradual and some homes' built before and some after the street grading, grad-ing, dips, ups and downs and unlevel sidewalks have resulted. |
