Show Company Offers Three Scholarships to High School Seniors The U. S. Smelting, Refining and Mining Company is a?ain this year offering to high school graduates three scholarships for mining, geological and metallurgical metallur-gical engineering, Mr. O. A. Glae-ser, Glae-ser, vice president and general manager of Western Operations--announced today. Each scholarship is for a four-year four-year course leading to an engineering engin-eering degree with payment it the rate of $500 per year, and totaling $2000 over the four-year period. The scholarships will begin be-gin with the 1956 fall term. To the extent that circumstances mav permit, scholarship recipients recip-ients will be offered employment during summer vacations at one of the company's plants. High school seniors' graduating graduat-ing this spring or persons who have completed high school since January 1. 1955 are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Sons of company emplovees who rani favorably with other candidates wlU be given preference.
