Show Cedar Marching Mothers Chairman Named For Polio Fund Drive; All-County Plans Laid Cedar City March of Dimes ' committee announced this week the appointment of Mrs. Ervin Brunson as chairman of the Marching Mothers drive which will be staged in this city on Monday, Jan. 24. Walter Lowe, city chairman for the drive, made the announcement announce-ment and urged the support of residents in the drive. The Marching March-ing Mothers, he indicated, will begin their house to house canvass can-vass on Jan. 24, at 9 a. m. and plan to complete' the city-wide drive in one day. Mrs. Brunson will organize the mothers for the canvass appointing appoint-ing block workers to completely cover the cily. A meeting for this purpose has been called for Saturday Sat-urday evening. Jan. 15. All those who will participate in this drive have been asked to meet at El Escalante Hote'. at 7:00 p. m. for a 30 minute meeting. At the meeting information will be dis-eminatcd dis-eminatcd and a film will be presented. pre-sented. One Phase of Drive The Marching Mothers program of the polio fund drive is just one part of the month long campaign cam-paign being waged in Cedar City and throughout the nation. At Modena an annual project for fund raising is quilting by local lo-cal ladies followed by an auction with proceeds donated to the March of Dimes. Lowe, on the local level, has also conducted an educational campaign. He has appeared before be-fore the Lions, Kiwanls and Rotary Ro-tary clubs and presented an outstanding out-standing film on what is being done for Polio vUllms. Coin Collectors Col-lectors have also been placed in business hluses of the city and a canvass of the businesses will also be made, he indicated. No goal has been set; however, the need for funds for patient care and for the additional program pro-gram on Tolio prevention, is greater than ever this year. |
