Show Formulate Plans To Make Cedar Shopping Center A newly appointed retail merchants mer-chants committee of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce has formulated a plan for the promotion pro-motion of Cedar City as a shopping shop-ping center of southern Utah and eastern Nevada, according to Homer S. Jones, chairman of the committee. As a means of acquainting the people of . the surrounding territory terri-tory with the shopping opportunities opportun-ities offered in Cedar City, and with the wide range of merchandise merchan-dise available here at prices comparable com-parable to those of any locality, four special promotional events will be staged during 1952, Mr. Jones states. "It is the plan," he said, "to attract people to Cedar City through the wide range of merchandise mer-chandise and service offered, and not to lure them by means of special bargains on Isolated items." The promotion events will feature fea-ture "Sweepstakes Days" in Cedar Ce-dar City during which special entertainment en-tertainment attractions, particularly particu-larly for the children will be offered, of-fered, in order that families may come to Cedar City for a day, and find entertainment for their children chil-dren while the adults visit the various places of business,' see what is available here, and acquaint ac-quaint themselves with services offered. As a special attraction to adults, prizes of various types will be. offered on each of the Sweepstakes Days. The first of the four events will held held on Saturday, April 5, Mr. Jones-says, and details of activities for that day will be announced next week. Serving with Mr. Jones on the retail merchants committe are Mrs. M. A. Cowley, chamber board advisor; Nathan Byers, Mrs. Robert Smith, Mrs. Alta Johnson, Mrs. Florence Cardon, Mrs. Bertha Carter, Reed Brad-shaw, Brad-shaw, Max Heaps, Frank Petty, Paul Stokes and Howard Wood. |
