Show Gratifying Response To Invitations For Cedar Art Exhibit Dr. Reed W. Farnsworth, chairman chair-man of the annual Cedar City spring art exhibit, reports that response to Invitations to exhibit exhi-bit in the Cedar City event has been so gratifying that assurance assur-ance is given that more paintings paint-ings will be hung this year than any in the history of the exhi: bit. "In fact," Dr. Farnsworth states, "the response is almost overwhelming, and the time is rapidly approaching when it will be necessary to select a jury to select paintings for the exhi: bit because it will be impossible to hang all that are offered." Outstanding artists from all parts of the country have indi: cated that they will send choice paintings for the Cedar , City show and in addition, many other artists who have not exhibited ex-hibited here before are inquiring as to the possibility of getting into this exhibit. Dates for the annual exhibit have been set, with the two week event running from Sunday, April 20 to Sunday May 4. The exhibit will again be hung in the Cedar East elementary school and Sunday afternoon programs featuring discussions of art, will be held on each of three Sundays Sun-days during the exhibit period. As an added feature a preview will be held on Friday, April 18, giving local patrons an opportunity oppor-tunity to select paintings for purchase pur-chase in advance of the exhibit. In the past many of the choice paintings have been purchased on the opening day of the exhibit exhi-bit by outside art patrons and institutions, and the plan of holding a preview gives the individual in-dividual purchaser an opportunity opportuni-ty to make a first selection. As a result of the support given giv-en the show by exhibitors and the. Interest that has been created cre-ated locally, the art committee is considering the possibility of holding at later dates, two auxiliary aux-iliary shows, one to exhibit the works of local artists, and another an-other to exhibit the works of young people from the schools of the area. |
