Show Rotary, Milne Meet To Determine Second Half Winners Rotary 7 2 .777 Milne 6 2 .750 Lions 4 4 .500 Elks : 3 5 .375 Columbia 2.5 .286 Kiwanis 2 7 .222 This evening, Thursday, one of the most crucial games' in the second half of play in the Cedar City Little League wUl start at 5:30 p. m. The game, pitting Rotary Ro-tary and Milne, top contenders in the second half, will virtually give the title to the winner. Lion Tamers, although first half winners, are out of the running run-ning in this half so a playoff is assured. That playoff wiU probably pro-bably pit the Lions against the winner of this evening's game. The playoff, scheduled for a two of three contest, will get underway un-derway Monday evening, Aug. 22 and will run through Wednesday, Wednes-day, Aug. 24, according to Clyde Higbee, league president. League Closes The completion of the second half schedule is due Saturday afternoon af-ternoon when four of the participating parti-cipating six teams wUl close their activities for regular league pjay. Action this week, although back to normal since the return of the all-stars to their respective teams, has had very little effect on the standings. Rotary's win over the Elks Rulers Monday evening by a score of 9 to 5 was the only game of consequence this week. Sanj Chamberlain in that contest pitched a two hitter to slow down the Rulers, now hojding fourth place. Tuesday evening Kiwanis defeated de-feated Columbia by a score of 10 to 1. Last Saturday the Columbia Co-lumbia team had beaten the Kiwanis Ki-wanis Cubs by a 4 to 3 margin. These two teams split for the se-Icond se-Icond half. |
