Show Edwin L. Peterson Quits Washington Political Post forUSAC Teaching lob Edwin L. Peterson, long time associate of the College of South-ern South-ern Utah, where he has headed the department of sociaj science, announces this week his plans to accept a new position with the Utah State Agricultural College at Logan, effective September 15. Peterson has accented an asso- r ciate professor .of social' science position on the USAC campus and will begin his duties at the opening of the state institution I this fall. Peterson came to the campus of CSU in 1937. Since that time he has taken time out to serve with the United States Army in 1941 through 1944. He also was granted one year sabbatical leave from the local institution to continue con-tinue his work towards his doctorate doc-torate at the University of California Cali-fornia at Los Angeles. This past year he took a third leave of absence ab-sence to serve as administrative assistant to Congressman Henry Aldous Dixon, immediate past president of USAC. , While on the USAC campus this fall, Peterson states, his schedule will be so arranged as to aUow time for him to complete his doctorate work. He received his bachelor of science degree as well as his master's at U S A C and with the exception of the one-year study at UCLA he will complete his , doctorate on the land grant college col-lege campus. Peterson joined the local col lege while it was still known as Branch Agricultural College and he was instrumental in the change of the school's name to College of Southern Utah. He has been associated with public relations re-lations for many years in addition addi-tion to his classroom duties. In I that capacity, he worked dili- ' gently with the alumni assocla- ' tion for many years. 1 He was also a booster in the community. A member of the j Lions Club he was district secretary sec-retary of the organization one 1 year and he was also well known for his enthusiasm regarding sports, competitive, as well as wildlife. Teterson stated that he leaves Cedar City with many regrets. 'However, the position at USAC could not be passed up, he said. He will aJways remain loyal to CSU and Cedar City, most of his friends' and associates agree. |
