Show Plans Move Forward for Bigger than Ever Iron County Fair Scheduled for Sept. 3-5 Final plans for the Iron County Fair to be held in Parowan Sept. 3 and 5 were announced early this week as the material for the premium booklet went to the printer. Many groups have been enlisted to make the 1955 Fair the biggest in the history of Iron County. ' Inasmuch as this traditional event has been set for the Labor Day week end, it is expected that even more than the usual large crowd will be able to attend its many features, according to Arnold Arn-old Gurr, chairman. Two full days of entertainment have been arranged for Saturday Satur-day and Monday with special provisions made for the exhibits to be open to the public from 2 to 9 p. m. Sunday, Mr. Gurr said. Demonstrations, judging contests, race meet, talent show and dancing will supply top entertainment en-tertainment for ajl ages. Committee members chosen from the various parts of the county are now busy encouraging residents to display their produce, livestock, as well as their many creations of the past year in the homemaking fields, arts' and crafts and flowers. Boys and girls of the 4-11 Clubs of Iron County will enter their exhibits as well as compote for honors in judging and demonstrations, general committee members said. All livestock will be exhibited in the Ramboui.'lct barn while all other exhibits will be display, ed in the new Parowan High School gym. Committee members have specified that all 4 II Club exhibits, handwork, sewing, baked bak-ed and canned goods, and arts and crafts must be registered Friday morning, Sept. 2. Judging will take place that afternoon in these departments. Vegetables, fruits, field crops and flowers are to be entered Saturday morning as are alj livestock. Prizes will be paid all day Monday. Mr. Gurr states that each member mem-ber of the general committee has been delegated certain responsibilities, responsi-bilities, and each has enlisted his aids and he is going ahead in his assignment and is asking the residents of the county for their cooperation in helping to make this fair the biggest ever I held in Iron County. |
