Show Rams Drop Opener ToMarysvale In Nip And Tuck Game The Parowan High School basketball bas-ketball team lost a heart-breaking game to a scrappy Marys-vale Marys-vale High team in the opening round of the state B tournament in Provo yesterday. As a result of the loss the Rams dropped into the consolation bracket and will tangle with Lehi today at 5 p. m. Marysvale took the measure of the Rams by a score of 55 to 53, after a hectic battle in which the Parowan team fell behind, rallied ral-lied to take over the lead but faltered again in the final minutes min-utes of play. The Rams held a 10 to 9 lead at the end of the first period, but during the second, Coach Bruce Decker's squad fell behind, mostly because of its inability in-ability to cover the bank boards, giving the underdog Marysvale team possession at critical stages. The Rams trailed 31 to 2-1 at half time. Rallying in thesecond half to take over the lead at 37 to 33, the Rams fell behind again at the end of the period, 42 to 39. They again took the lead in the final period but could not retain the advantage and were dropped out of the championship bracket. Roy Benson scored 20 points for Parowan, but Morrill of Marysvale was high point man wtih 22 points, 20 of which were scored in the disastrous first half. |
