Show Cedar City Jr. and Sr. High School Students Earn High Music Ratings Cedar City junior and senior high school students who participated partici-pated in the vocal and ensemble music festival of Region Six at Delta last week walked off with their usual fine ratings indicating indicat-ing that the local schools not only can boast excellent talent, but also exceptionally fine directors direc-tors in each department. Judges for the music contests were all from Brigham Young University, with Dr. John Hall-day Hall-day judging piano and vocal; Newell Weight, vocal; Farrell Madsen, brass, and Ralph Lay-cock, Lay-cock, woodwinds and strings. In addition to rating each individual individ-ual jr group, criticisms were given gi-ven in each Instance. Ratings of I, II, III, IV and V were given. Directors of the three departments depart-ments at the Cedar City schools are A. B. Larson, Instrumental; Roy L. Halversen, strings, and Wallace Adams, vocal. Ratings of each of the local contestant:; were as follows: French horn solo, Marann Braddiaw, I minus; French horn duet, Janet Wasden and Sharon Givan, I minus; cornet solo, Richard Rich-ard Heywood, I, and Larry Givan, II plus; sousaphone solo, Laure-na Laure-na Jones, I; trombone solo, Deo FA Stapley, I minus; saxophone duet, Lorin Brown and Robert Seegmiller, I minus; saxophone solo, Lane Merryweather, I; flute duet, Ann Larson and Claudia Hirschi, I minus; clarinet quartet, quar-tet, Sara Jensen, Caroi Ann Parry, Ronnie Snow and Janine Bauer, I; clarinet solo, Sara Jensen, I; piano solo, Janet Wasden, I, and Diane Cooley, I minus; piano duet, Janine Bauer and Renee Gentry, I minus, and Diane Cooley Coo-ley and Marilyn Halversen, I minus. A piano duet by Alan Seegmiller Seeg-miller and Layne Nielson, College Col-lege of Southern Utah students, was r.ated I minus, and a clarinet solo by Dayne Gardner of the junior high was rated I minus.
