Show City Council Accepts Proposal For Insurance Policy Grouping At a special meeting of the Parowan City Council Tuesday evening Joe Ottenheimer of Salt Lake City representing the Transportation Insurance Agency of Salt Lake City presented the survey of all the Insurance policies pol-icies carried by the city on its property, and proposed a blanket insurance program which he has been working on for several weeks. His survey showed that Parowan Paro-wan city is carrying insurance on city owned buildings in the amount of $139,000 with several different companies, for which it is paying $600 a year. His company com-pany proposed, to pick up these policies as they expired and group them all into one policy calling for a coverage of $185,000 which would cost the city $G50 for a 90 per cent coverage. The policy would cover the Bank of Iron County building which is owned by the city; the library building and contents; the hydroelectric hydro-electric plant and machinery; and the buildings at the city race track groups including the grandstand, stables and smaller building there; the machine sheds and exhibit buildings left by the old C C C camp Agents Protected Under the proposed insurance plan, those insurance agents who have written the policies presently pres-ently in force will go on receiving receiv-ing the same commissions they have heretofore received thus suffering no loss by the switch to the new plan. This program has been studied in the past by the council and after more consideration at the Tuesday night meeting the pro-1 gram was accepted. Mr. Ottenheimer also presented an insurance policy covering the hydro-penstock line in Parowan canyon, covering that line in re- gard to all damages that might happen to it and in which the company would not only repair all damages to the line by flood rock slides, shooting, etc., but would also re-imburse the city for any loss of revenue which would occur if the line was put out for any length of time up to 30 dajs. This policy was also ac-accepted ac-accepted by the city. A further study of the city's liability insurance program is to be made, to see if they can be combined under one policy at a saving in premiums cosjts. |
