Show USflC Receives Grant To Continue Sheep Loss Survey Range and livestock experts of the Utah State Agricultural College Col-lege at Logan will begin an exhaustive ex-haustive survey of causes of sheep losses among southern Utah herds when school opens in September. The study will be made under a $25,000 grant to the college by the Atomic Energy Commission for such research work. The program outlined comes as the result of losses in herds ranging rang-ing nenr the Nevada atomic proving prov-ing grounds last spring, which resulted in fears of livestock men that the strange malady was caused by radio-active fallout after af-ter the atomic tests. Preliminary preparations for study were made this week when U S A C experts visited Cedar City and conferred with livestock men whose herds were effected by the malady. Making the preparations were Dr. L. Stoddart, head of the department de-partment of range management at U S A C; Dr. Wayne C. Cook, professor of range management; Dr. Loiin E. Harris, nutritional specialist with the department, and Dr. R. II. Walker, director of the U S A C experiment station, who will direct the activities for the scientific staff In making the survey. |
