Show PTA Members Hear Mental Health Head The regular meeting of the Es-calant Es-calant Valley Pa rent -Teachers Association was held Friday, March 12. with Arch M. Thurman, State Director of Mental Health Education as guest sneaker. Two motion picture films were shown. One was entitled "Shyness," "Shy-ness," a very excellent picture of three children, each veiy shy in a different way. The way it affected af-fected their lives, in school and sociallv, was illustrated. One was afraid, one was very sad and suspicious, the other just liked j to be alone. In the film these children were helped to become fairly happy and normal child-! ren, mainly through the help of the paients and teachers, once they had professional help to find the trouble. Usually the fault lies in the unhappy homes of the children. The other film was a "Mental Health" feature. Following this a short lecture on the film was given by Mr. Thurman. The PTA officers' wish to extend their thanks to Mrs. D. S. Dix of Cedar City tor arranging to have Mr. (Thurman visit their community. AH members deeply apreciated the films and the lecture on mental men-tal health. A fine crowd was in atendence. |
