Show New Selective Service Law Requires Exams For Vets With Less Than 6 Months Service Under orders from national headquarters of the Selective Service Ser-vice all Selective Service registrants regis-trants who have served in military mili-tary units for less than six months will be re-examined during dur-ing the next few months to determine deter-mine whether or not they should be re-classified and ordered to report for additional military duty- Under previous regulations any registrant who has been inducted induct-ed and has served for any length of time, even if it should be only one day, has been classified as a veteran. A new ruling provides pro-vides that no registrant shall be classed as a veteran until after he has served for at least six months. Under this ruling all men who have been released before serving serv-ing the full six months period, no matter what the cause of release, re-lease, shall be re-examined and reclassified. This includes men who have been released because of physical or health conditions, under hardship situations, or any other reuson. Placed in New Category It does not necessarily mean that they will be reclassified as 1-A and ordered to return, but rather that they will be taken from the veteran category and placed under a new classification classifica-tion fitting each man's particular situation, whether it be 4F, 3A or any other. Some, of course, will be reclassified into 1-A if they pass their physical examination, exam-ination, and will then become available for induction. Six Iron County men in this category have been ordered to report re-port for physical examinations on Mar. 22, under this new rul ing, according to E. B. Dalley, clerk of the Iron County Selective Selec-tive Service Board. They are Joseph Jos-eph Dobrusky of Parowan, who is now residing in Albuquerque, N. M.; Albert Esplin Adams, Par owan, residing in Tooele; Morris Edward (Teddy) Bird, Cedar City, residing in Las Vegas; Bryee Chamberlain Dewey, Beryl, residing resid-ing tr, California; Harold Victor Smith, Summit, and David Ellis Bentjey, Cedar Crty A fey?, others may be called at a later date, but could not be processed ' for this call. |
