Show Household tips Sweet apple cider can be made by processing cored and cut-up apples in a food chopper, blender or food processor. Spoon the pulp into a muslin sack or cotton pillow case and squeeze bag to extract apple juice. Pour juice into clean glass containers. Sweet cider will keep for four to five days. It can be stored frozen for up to six months. When microwave recipes say to cover the dish tightly, use plastic wrap, sealed all around the dish, except ex-cept for one edge turned back slightly to allow steam to escape. Without the vent, pressure will build up and the plastic wrap will split, allowing food to spatter. You can also cover the food with the lid that fits the baking dish which usually makes a loose enough seal to allow enough steam to escape. If directions say to cover loosely, either place lid ajar or use waxed paper to allow steam to escape. To serve tender slices of beef brisket, cut in thin slices at an angle across the grain of the meat. |
