Show Recycling bins appear in county By SCOTT SUMMERILL FARMINGTON-Davis County's Coun-ty's recycling plans have taken their first step with the placement of one collection bin in Clearfield, and the selection of seven other sites throughout the county. Davis County Solid Waste Management and Energy Recovery Special Services District (SWMERS) Director LeGrand Bitter said sites have been submitted sub-mitted by the cities of North Salt Lake, Woods Cross, Farmington, Kaysville, Sunset, Morgan and West Bountiful for bin placement. 'Those containers will be placed as soon as they become available," he said. 'We hope to have a bin in every city in the district soon." Pickup and recycling will be handled by Waste Management, who has already put a substantial amount of money into the project, according to Bitter. Once all the bins are in place, SWMERS will evaluate the use of each and make whatever adjustments are needed to ensure the county is getting the maximum advantages of the recycling recycl-ing program. In addition, Fruit Heights has been chosen as the test site for curb-side curb-side recycling pickup. Bitter said residents of that city should be able to sort their recyclables and place them on the curb for pickup just as they would their normal garbage within two months. The success of the curb-side pickup in Fruit Heights will be a major detennining factor on the expansion and timetable of the program. In addition to the recycling plans, SWMERS announced construction of the district's autoclave for treatment treat-ment of infectious waste should begin within two weeks. Thiede Construction of Salt Lake City has been awarded the contract to build the facility. "We're glad to see these projects getting underway, ' Bitter said. "We're anxious to see them in full swing.
