Show Town and Country Style Shop By VICKI CROCCO He's been cutting hair for the past 28 years. Don Carroll, owner of the Towne and Country Style Shop at 12 S. Main Street, is dedicated to top notch hair cuts. "The most difficult part of this job is when they don't know how to explain what they want, or haven't decided. If people let me do what I feel is best, if they're just looking for a change, I feel confident that I can do a good job. Communication is the most important part of the job. What's a little bit to one person is a lot for another," said Carroll. "If 1 can cut a person's hair three times, I can usually find out exactly what they want," said Carroll. Salt Lake City is where 14 of those 28 years were spent, and the remaining years Carroll has been working out of his present location. "My bishop was a barber and he got me interested in the field. 1 tried some other things like construction, construc-tion, but decided to give barbering a try. That was 28 years ago," said Carroll. Carroll has served for nine years as a member of the Utah State Barber-Cosmetology Board of Examiners. Examin-ers. He has twice served as president of the Utah Barber's Association, in 1970 and again in 1980, according to Carroll. As a member of the Bountiful Area Chamber of Commerce for several years, Carroll said, "The downtown project is great. We have to learn how to change with it, but I think the downtown merchants mer-chants understand it and are now ready to change." |
