Show So, Davis squad takes state title South Davis Bobby Sox, Bobby Sox Division all stars, won the state fast pitch tournament for 9-12 year olds on July 18. Teams representing Reams, Taylorsville, Westside (Rose Park) and South Davis competed at the Taylorsville complex. The tournament tourna-ment started Saturday, July 9, with South Davis playing West Side and Tayloisville Gold playing Kearns. The tournament was a double elimination eli-mination event. South Davis, in taking the championship, had to play six games. Results were as follows: fol-lows: South Davis 11 Westside 7; South Davis 22 Taylorsville Twins 25; South Davis 22 Kearns 21; South Davis 35 Taylorsville Twins 27; South Davis 24 Taylorsville Tigers Ti-gers 23; South Davis 19 Taylorsville Taylorsvil-le Tigers 18. Players and managing staff included: in-cluded: Tammie Allman, Elisha Back, Kim Banks, Rosemary Bearnson, Heather Eriksson, Kris-ty Kris-ty Merrill, Krista Peck, Candi Hayden, Monica Snodgrass, Shana Merrill, Jamie Tingey, Tenneal Workman and alternate Allison Silver. Members of the South Davis Bobby Sox all-star team captured the Utah state championship champion-ship July 1 8, and will now head for the national tournament in Buena Park, Calif., on Aug. 13-19. The manager was Pam Tingey, with coaches Marlene Merrill, Richard Tingey and chaperon Sue Hayden. South Davis will now represent Utah and the South Davis Area at the National Bobby Sox Tournament Tourna-ment in Buena Park, Calif. Aug. 13- 19. The board of directors and girls will now start to raise the $6,000 required to get them to California. |
