Show Burke and Sons Sew & Vac By VICKI CROCCO BOUNTIFUL Since Main Street re-opened, business has been better at Burke and Son Sew and Vac, 201 S. Main, according to owner Marlin Burke. In the repair business for the past 20 years, Burke opened his doors on Nov. 1, 1987 and with the help of his 12-year-old son, and an Elec-trolux Elec-trolux dealership, and Necchi Italian Ita-lian sewing machines, he'll keep them open a long time. "I like making things work. I service ser-vice all makes of vacuums and sewing sew-ing machines, but as of February of this year when Electrolux was bought back from the Sara Lee Company by the employees, Electrolux Elec-trolux saw a need for more outlets closer to the public, and I received the dealership. I had some ales experience years ago whicl ,elps now," said Burke. "Electrolux is the Cadillac of the industry because of the quality. They are built to last," said Burke. The Necchi sewing maching has been in business since 1852, longer than the Singer Company. They introduced in-troduced the zig zag stitch to America, and the machine was ranked number one in the world by Consumers' Guide magazine, according to Burke. "Bountiful is a great town and our reputation is growing. The word of mouth method of advertising advertis-ing has been working, but we need to do more promotion," said Burke. |
