Show WX High FFA activities The Woods Cross summer agri-: agri-: cultural program group will take . their summer field trip to Utah ' County and Salt Lake County this year. The group will tour the Candy Apple Juice plant and the apple sorting sort-ing plant in Santaquin and then have ; lunch in Provo followed by a tour of the Western General Dairy Plant in Salt Lake City. : Another activity that the summer Ag. group will be involved in is the Davis County Fair, which will be Aug. 5 and 6 for the livestock lives-tock part of the fair. Woods Cross students will be judging at the contest con-test at 10 a.m. and they will be in volved in the tractor driving contest con-test that afternoon. They will help serve the lunch to the exhibitors and their families after the animals have been shown and judged. This will all take place on Aug. 5 and on Aug. 6. The students will help with the dairy cattle show at Richards Dairy in Farmington. There will be four classes of cattle for the students to judge and then the show will begin at 1 1 a.m. On Aug. 8 and 9 the FFA officers will attend a leadership workshop in Ogden. The Ag. student of the week for the summer program is Thomas Dye. He is the president of the FFA next year at Woods Cross High. He has been very active in the Ag. program for last school year as well as in his younger days. Tom's project is raising registered reg-istered polled Hereford cattle in Wales, Utah. Tom spends all summer and many weekends working with his cattle. He also works for his uncle and grandfather with their farm work there in Wales. Tom has been to the state FFA convention and the horse judging contest on the state level. |
