The victory also improves Uintah's third place record of 5 wins and 3 losses. Tooele had a 16 to 7 lead after one quarter of action on five field goals by Whitehouse and two field goals by Gordon and one two-pointer by Koren. The Buffaloes had a 20 to 7 lead early in the second quarter, but Uintah scored six straight points to cut Tooele's lead to 20 to 13. Koren of Tooele put in two free throws for a 22 to 13 lead, but Pennie Murray and Teresa Smith fired . in field goals and Chris Mott and Darian Abegglen put in free throws to cut Tooele's lead to three points, 22 to 19. Abegglen put in a field goal to cut Tooele's lead to one point at 22 to 21 and then Uintah stole the ball and Murray fired in a two-pointer at the buzzer to give Uintah a 23 to 22 lead after two quarters of action. The Utes' Abegglen fired in a field goal early in the third quarter to give Uintah a 25 to 11 lead, but Tooele put in two-pointers to take a 26 to 25 lead, but Murray fired in a field goal to give Uintah Uin-tah a 27 to 26 advantage. Murray fired in a field goal and Smith tossed in two field goals to give Uintah a 33 to 28 lead. Tooele put in a field goal to cut Uintah's lead to three points at 33 to 30, but Uintah fired in eight straight points to take a 41 to 30 advantage. Uintah outscored Tooele, 6 to 3, in the rest of the quarter to make the score: Uintah, 47 and Tooele, 33 after three quarters. The Utes outscored the Buffaloes, 21 to 20, in the fourth quarter to make the final score: Uintah, 68 and Tooele, 53. Abegglen was the top scorer for Uintah in the fourth quarter with 11 points. Abegglen was the top scorer in the game for Uintah with 23 points. She fired in eight field goals and hit 7 out of 11 free throws. Also scoring points for Uintah were: Murray, 12; Rhonda Rhodes, 8; Smith, 8; Mott, 7; Lisa Jorgensen, 6; Susie Feltch, 2; Johnna Wiseman, 1; and Jodene Merkley, 1. Tooele's top scorer was Whitehouse with 22 points on 11 field goals. Also scoring points for Tooele were: Winn, 8; Gordon, 8; Koren, 7; Davies, 6 and Bush, 2. The Utes will battle Jordan on the road Thursday at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and will host Judge Memorial, Tuesday. The state meet is set for March 9-14. When asked to comment on the victory by the Utes, Uintah hoop coach, LoaKay Bowthorpe remarked We bad a slow start, but we came back and won the game.
