Show Police nabs suspects in Vernal burglary Police have linked two juveniles arrested ar-rested in Salt Lake City to the Jan. 23 burglary of the Hasty Pawn Shop, reported the Vernal City police. Stolen in the burglary were 28 firearms, and an unknown amount of jewelry, rings, watches and knives listed at $10,000. Last Tuesday, Salt Lake City police purchased a handgun from Mulners Department Store in Salt Lake City and found the weapon to be stolen, reported Vernal City Police. Police set up surveillance and saw a vehicle at the establishment at which time two adults and two juveniles were questioned. The adults were later released. The juveniles were found in possession of a watch and jewelry which has been identified with the Hasty Has-ty Pawn Shop burglary and another burglary in Altamont last week. The 16 and 17-year-olds are being held in detention by the Third District Juvenile Court facing charges of burglary. Vernal police are continuing investigation in-vestigation of the case in conjunction with Pat Smith, Salt Lake City police. "Evidence from the scene is being compared to connect the juveniles to the crime," Chief Robert T. Downard, said. In an unrelated case, police arrested Christine Farr, 28, of Vernal Feb. 14 on charges of attempted homicide. Witnesses at the scene reported that Mrs. Farr fired two blank cartridges at her husband from a .35 caliber pistol and shot the tire of her husband's car while arguing over custody rights of her child. Mrs. Farr was encarcerated in the Uintah County Jail, but is out on $5,000 bail. Friday, Feb. 13, officers were informed inform-ed that James Mark Tull, 27, of Vernal was in possession of a .45 caliber pistol and had threatened to use the firearm on an unknown person in an earlier incident, inci-dent, reported police. Officer Harry Williams located Tull's vehicle near the Maeser corner and arrested ar-rested him for carrying a concealed weapon. Tull is being held in the Uintah , County Jail pending $5,300 cash bond. |
