Show VJH banquet honors scholars An honors banquet was held Feb. 11 at the Vernal Junior High School cafeteria for Vernal Junior High students who had a 3.75 or high grade point average for the first half of the 1980-81 school year. Sixty-one students from a student-body student-body of over 800 qualified. Thirty 7th graders, fifteen 8th graders and sixteen 9th grade students were honored. Parents were also invited to attend with their student. Bill Caldwell, principal of Uintah High School was the key-note speaker. Also, a film on creativity was shown. Closing remarks were made by Principal John Childs, after which he presented each honor student with a certificate. The banquet was arranged and conducted by Jan Nelson, vice-principal vice-principal of Vernal Junior High school. Seventh grade students receiving honors were: Cindy Allred, June Anderson, An-derson, Camille Anderton, Delyn Bryant, Mark Cook, Kevin Day, W. Shane Goad, Jill Hamson, Loretta Herrmann, Joy Hunsaker, Joani Jackson, Darren Johnson, Merlynn Kellogg, Christine Measel, Valton Mortenson, Gayla Nelson, Rachel Nuttall, Heidi Pease, R. Brooke Peterson, Garry Remington, Robert Rhodes, Laylene Rich, Janet Suape, Doug Simper, Suzanne Slaugh, Trade Smith, Brian Wallis, Julie Walton, Becky Warberg and Lynn Winward. Eighth grade honor students were Richard Augustus, Laura Bates, Troy Caldwell, Diane Chamberlain, Susan Hall, Gwen Hardman, Nathan Hatch, Paul Kay, Joseph LeBeau Jr., Evan Le Fevre, Amy McCabe, David Rust, Mark Slaugh, Nelda Denise Smuin and Dennis Vincent. Ninth grade honors went to: Gregg Burraston, Eve Davies, Michael Fry, Joan Hacking, Kyle Hardinger, Laurel Herrmann, Holly Hunsaker, Sammi Kay, Sheila Nelson, Steven Pease, Blaine Peterson, Craig Peterson, Sharalyn Slaugh, Lesley Smith, Kelly Sorensen and Teresa Tullis. |
