Show BB00S8000 DltOllIttllltxi'o Water project abuse charged To Whom It May Concern : I have repeatedly asked, "Why was Brush Creek Drainage developed ahead of Ashley Creek dranages?" It appears to me to be massive stupidity to spend 12 to 20 million dollars on a acqeduct system so we can pump water uphill, at even more cost, when other drainages are available to deliver water by a natural flow. No one has yet shown any reasonable and factual tangible answers. Also, "Why is Central Utah Water Conservancy District appearing to be so aggressively anxious to build us 'their' treatment plant?" The agriculture land is rapidly converting to housing developments. If Vernal is "tied" to the expensive aqueduct and companion treatment plant, then who will be in position and who will be able to afford the acquisition of the water usage of Ashley drainages? The Red Fleet project was approved by the people, including myself, with the understanding the aqueduct would deliver water to the Steinaker Reservoir Reser-voir for agriculture exchange purposes, thus protecting Ashley Springs as our source of household water. I agree with the opinion that there is a major violation viola-tion of integrity to the people of this community when a handful of officials conclude they have the right to violate the intent and "flex" the position of the proposed aqueduct as though it were a rubber hose. The proposed acqueduct has "flexed" from Steinaker Reservoir to Ashley Springs then to Ashley Creek and now to a proposed treatment plant near the Utah Power and Light Substation Substa-tion and apparently now even eliminates a turnout from the proposed aqueduct to Steinaker Reservoir. Why do they label this Red Fleet aqueduct plan as "genius", yet one or two officials try to label as "stupid" all the suspicion of them, likely desiring to aqueduct "our" Ashley Drainage water on to the West in a "domino" effect. These water programs have been on the drawing boards for 30-40 years that I am aware of, thus may I suggest you all review the Bureau of Reclamation map, revised 1951. I personally feel I have been excessively ex-cessively deceived and abused. I, for one taxpayer and water user, can not afford all this engineering gratification. I want to continue drinking Ashley Springs Spr-ings water not the expensively produced produc-ed and expensively pumped reservoir water. If the future forces us to eventually even-tually drink reservoir water we can surely do it far less expensively than an uphill pumping aqueduct system. I do want elected and local officials controlling controll-ing our local waters, someone sensitive to taxpayers desires. I still have copies of Bureau letters, maps, etc., available if anyone desires, you can call me at 789-3549 evenings and I'll do my very best to get copies to you. Sincerely, , STANLEY A. ANDERSON |
