Show Oil rigs dot Lapoint area Western Uintah County, specifically the Lapoint area is in the midst of an oil boom. In the past several months, there have been six rigs put into operation. According to a Texas tool pusher, (field supervisor for the contractor), there will be 60 rigs drilling the Lapoint area by August of this year. Currently there are five wells producing produc-ing and one just completed with a work over rig on it to bring in the oil. There are six rigs drilling on the land lililiiiiil owned by the Ute Tribe, Hackford, Cox, Faucett, and Horrocks families. All of the rigs are owned by Bow Valley, except ex-cept for one rig on the Horrocks farm which is being drilled by Kenia out of Colorado. Activity in the area began to blossom when the Rose Mary Lloyd well came in with 2,400 barrels of black crude per day. The black crude oil is coming from the Green River formation. |
