MUNICIPAL COURT LAW BEING TESTED A writ of mandate to determine the constitutionality of the municipal court la w passed by the last session of tho loiri.-iature has been filed in the supreme court by "William A. Leatham, city recorder re-corder of Salt Lake, to compel Henry C. Laud and W. K. Reccr, justices of the peace, to turn over justice court records to him. Justice courts recently held that they were responsible to the district court for certain records, and declined to turn them over to tho city recorder, as clerk of the iK'wlv created municipal courts. The supreme court has issued orders that the iuslices turn over tho records bv next Monday or appear and snow cause why they refused to do so. In this way it is proposed to determine the status of the new courts.
