Show Rantzau Pleads for Time. BERLIN, May 21. Count von Brock-dorff-Rantzau, head of the German peace mission at "Versailles, sent Premier Clemenceau, Clem-enceau, president of the peace congress, yesterday, a note saying tha.t within the next few days the Germans would address ad-dress a communication to the entente on territorial and other points and were preparing pre-paring a statement of observations by the German government on the draft of the treaty. As experts had to he consulted, the count's note continued, it will be impossible impossi-ble to get through all this work within the time remaining before the expiration of the fifteen -day -limit for the German consideration of the treaty. He therefore suggested that the contents of the prospective pros-pective notes should be regarded as having hav-ing been made the subject of written discussion, dis-cussion, and he requested that a period be granted for setting them forth in j detail. |
