Show COLLUSION CHARGED TO ARIZONA CITIZENS WASHINGTON, May 21. Evidence gathered in an investigation of charges that several officials of Cochise county, Arizona, were in collusion with Mexican authorities in the kidnaping at Douglas last December 14 of rive men who later were executed across the border, has been transmitted to Governor Campbell of Arizona by the state department. It is understood state action in the case of the men was suggested. Kidnaping is a violation vio-lation only of state law, and the Mexicans involved could not be extradited for euch an offenso. The inquiry by the state department grew out of charges that several Cochise county officials co-operated with Mexican Mexi-can "authorities in kidnaping Alfonso Leyva, said to be an American citizen; a Dr. Huerta and three others, at Douglas, Doug-las, and taking them across the border. The men kidnaped previously had been under investigation in connection with the murdering and robbing of Mexican officials on their way from Agua Prieta to Cananea, Sonora. |
