OGDEN, March 8 Failure upon the part of the city commission to provide funds for the memorial as a tribute to the men who have returned from the army and navy, in the $500,000 bonds to be voted on at t"he election on April 8, has created much comment in many quarters, j It has also caused disappointment. I The statement is made by some of the 1 leadnig business men, who were advocates , of the memorial for the soldiers and sailors, sai-lors, that members of the city commission some months ago had expressed themselves them-selves as favoring a memorial of some kind for the soldiers. Shortly after the armistice was signed and the move was started for the memorial, trie suggestion was then made for the building also of a joint administration building for the city and county and having one part of it in I a memorial. When the cail for the $500,-000 $500,-000 bond election, no provision was made . for the funds for the memorial. The commissioners admit the joint building will not contain a hall or gymnasium for tho soldiers. |
