Show THE FIGHT OF A TUNA. I GAMEST OF ALL FISH Nimrods Will See a Live Specimen, 1 Together With Other Sportmak- ers, at World's Fair. X -- ST. LOUIS, Mo.P April 9. California t Nlmrods have given first place to the mighty Tuna as being the gamest of all the fish that inhabit the great fishing reserves off California's coast and for the edification of anglers generally the -f Los Angeles Chaipber of Commerce has "f sent to the World's Fair a live spec!- 4- men. Larger fish have been caught, but - none gamer exist tfian the Tuna. His weight ranges from seventy-five to 250 4 pounds. From four to fifteen hours arc required to subdue him and he does not 4 give up the fight until bis strength is 4 exhausted. Rod and reel are used in 4 Tuna fishing, but the gaff finally puts 4 an end to the battle when the game has surrendered. Thirty-five specimens of fishes from the Catallna Island shores are to be shown in an aquarium. One of these 4- will be a black sea bass weighing 400 T pounds. The bass Is not such a fighter as the Tunn, but specimens of this size are rare trophies. The Yellowtail is 4- anothcr game fish peculiar to Southern T California which will be seen in this T collection. His weight ranges from fif-teen fif-teen to fifty pounds and for his size there Is no fish of greater agility. 4- The Albicore, the Bonita, the Skip- jack, the rock bass, whltefish, sheeps- T head, mackerel and numerous other I specimens are exhibited In the Forest- 4- ry, Fish and Game Palace. The col- 4- lection was made and sent to the ex- T position with the view of Interesting T persons who have a fondness for angl- X Ing. I |
