Show GREAT SNOWSTORM IS SWEEPING MONTANA Carries Over Two Feet of Snow, and Railroad Traffic Is Blocked. HELENA. Mont., April 9. An April blizzard bringing with it from two to two and a half feet of snow and elect, has practically Isolated western Minnesota Minne-sota and a large section of North Dakota, Da-kota, The storm, which raged with great fury from Thursday evening until un-til late yesterday afternoon, not only completely blockaded the railroads with hugh drifts, but so- prostrated the telegraph tele-graph service that it probably will be two weeka before it la restored. Tho section of country around Fargo, N. D., is shut out from all communication. Before tho single wire working west failed last night, it was learned that thirty Inches of snow had fallen at Fargo Far-go andUhat not only the main lines of the railroad, but all the branches were tied up tight From Maplc-ton, Minn., to Staples, Minn., a distance of about 110 miles, it was estimated that from three to four hundred telegraph poles had been blown down or undermined by water. Snow plows are out In all directions and it is hoped to get the malu lines clear within a few hours. |
