Show FLYNN AND DONOVAN REACH SALT LAKE Two Ohio Ball Players Arrive and Report for Duty Practice Game nt "Walker's Today. "Mickey" Flynn and Donovan, the two Ohio balltossers signed by the Salt Lake club, arrived in tho city last evening and will report for duty. The boys should have arrived yesterday afternoon, but on account of a delayed train they did not get in until late last night. They repaired immediately to a hotel and retired, so as to be well rested up when they report at Walker's this afternoon. Both Flynn and Donovan are young fellows fel-lows who catno to this city at their own oxpense to try for a placo on tho local team. Flynn 18 an infielder who last year made a batting mark of .112 and a fielding field-ing average of .932. If records count for anything Flynn should make a creditable cred-itable successor to our late lamented "Bridget" Donahue. If the weather Is fair and tho diamond Is in good shap today, the Salt Lake ball team will piny a practice gamo with tho Soldiers at Walker's field. Yesterday afternoon tho grounds were rolled, and unless It storms this morning tho game will probably bo played. Among those who will appear in the Elders llnc-up this afternoon aro Glmlln, Hauscn. "Slats'" Davis. Bruyette, Hahn. Cook, Esslck and probably Flynn and Donovan. Tho same will bo called about 2:30 o'clock. Manager Gunn of the Castllla team arrived ar-rived In the city last night and reports that his team is maklngi great headway. Clyde Hall, a pitcher formerly with Idaho Falls, has been signed and is said to bo a valuable addition to tho twirling staff of tho Castllla team. A practice game will be played at Fort Douglas this afternoon between tho Springs team and the K. O. B. Browns. 9 A number of tho Saints went through a vigorous workout at Walker's field yesterday yester-day afternoon. Tho grounds were better yesterday than they havo been at any time this year and their condition scorned to be an Inspiration to thj players. Throughout tho entire afternoon the men went through divers practlco stunts, and at tho close all ngrced that it was the best day put in this year. |
