Show VERY RICH ORE STRIKE . MADE AT PARK CITY Special to Tho Tribune. PARK ' CITY. April 9. Park City is " oxcltod over a strike reported from the Elkborn district. J. C. Nc-aon came over wl.h samples of ore which have apltatcd mining circles here. The samples arc In Iho shape of large specimens of blended carbonates and galenas, that tell a etory of a poaslble Eldorado of Immense size and richness. Samples from the ore are now In the cruclblc.3 in tho assay offices and the results, which all who liavo seen the stuff ar confident of, aro awaited with eagerness. The receipt of the news brought together togeth-er a crowd of mining men and prospectors prospect-ors who are interested in the now district dis-trict and uo time was lost in getting on tho ground. Some of this vondcrful wealth-producing material lies about In huge boulders of soft, rich carbonates, intersected with strpaks and deposits of galena, weighing little short of a hundred pounds. At the bottom of tho shaft, which ia noout forty feet down from the surface, is an ore body, tho size and composition of which constitutes one of tho greatest ore discovt--les In Park City for years. Since Ft. day the twenty Inches of oro which thc Nel3on brothers have beecn following fol-lowing for twenty-seven feet, has suddenly sud-denly widened into a strong body, which measured exactly three and a half foct wide on thc east sldo of tho shaft and four :ei wide on the west side. It lies ln a five-foot fissure between walls of por-phvry por-phvry ar.d shows' a decided tendency to widen. All the ore taken from this body slnco Friday, and there has been a considerable quantity, is classed by expert miners as a high-grade ore. Credit for this discovery upon the Nelson Nel-son group Is due to J C. and Jinks Nelson, Nel-son, who have labored with unflagging faith ln tho ne v.- district for four years, amid the most discouraging circumstances, circum-stances, and not a little credit Is due Jim Douglas, who located tho site and sank tho shaft. Tho discovery Is at a point on the Nelson Nel-son ground 500 feet from tho end lines of the Majestic, and tho same productive ledge strikes through the latters territory, terri-tory, showing remarkable oro chutes outcropping out-cropping along Its well-denued course. Eastward the same ledgo extends for miles, cutting through the Eaglo ground and showing roroarkablo width ln places. From Its outcrops groat boulders of quartz containing galena In considerable quantities havo brokon off and Ho distributed dis-tributed along the hillside. Eight hundred feet east of tho discovery discov-ery the ledge J opened up to a depth- of fifteon feet, and shows up fifteen feet wide. Tho Nelson brothers have refused flattering flat-tering offers for small Interests. |
