Information was received in this city yesterday to the effect that George Edwards, Ed-wards, ono of tho best-known horse trainers train-ers and drivers of the State, who has been louring the Crand Circuit during the past year, would return to Salt Lake in a few weeks and remain hero during tho local racing season. This will no doubt be glad news to many of tho horse-owners and fanciers of the city, for Edwards was one of the best mon In the business hero and his presence will add materially to tho sport Edwards has the reputation of being a "speed maker," on account of his ability abili-ty to get good work out of horses that havo been pronounced "dead ones." Among tho animals that have been brought out and handled by Edwards successfully are Tombstone Hobo and Emma Foote. When Edwards took chargo of Hobo, horsemen of the city pronounced the animal ani-mal a counterfeit and said he was not worth training. Edwards, however, believed be-lieved thero wa3 something In the horse and gavo him a trial. By careful, consistent con-sistent handling ho developed tho horao and made him a winner on tho northern coast circuit, whero ho took a mark o 2-12. Tombstone and Emma Foote were taken East by Edward md raced to mark3 of 2:10Vi and 2:16-74, respectively. Last summer Edwards entered tho cm-ploy cm-ploy of Monroe Salisbury and went East on the Grand Circuit. While away he came in contact with some of the best horses and trainers in tho country and ought to be able to show tho local rcina-men rcina-men a few things about handling a race horse when ho gets back.
