And the accidents happened ks than a mile apart in the Mutheast section of the city. IHE MOST recent mishap "furred to Kurt W. Allen, 18 of 88 W. 500 South, Center-ville, Center-ville, who was traveling west on 2300 South in Bountiful when the brakes failed and the truck ended up in the front yard at 2352 S. 750 East. The truck reportedly struck a parked camper-trailer then jumped the curb before hitting hit-ting a retaining wall. The driver was not hurt. BOUNTIFUL police said Another truck lost its brakes on Bountiful's steep east bench last weekend. Damage was slight, but could have been serious. Children were playing in the area and if the driver had not been able to swerve to his left, he might have gone through a house, or over the hill and into other homes. Skillfully he guided his heavy truck into ' the retaining wall of this house. the construction truck, owned by H.B. Wicker, was loaded with about three tons of sand when the mishap occurred. It was the second such accident ac-cident involving loaded construction con-struction trucks within a week. THE previous Tuesday, a truck owned by M.C. Green Construction Company and loaded with steel concrete forms, lost its brakes and crashed through the brick wall of Valu Drug, 2155 South Orchard Drive. Damage to the drug store and contents within the store is estimated at more than $100,000. IN THE most recent accident, ac-cident, Mr. Allen told officers that the truck's brakes failed as he started down a steep hill ana ne lmmeaiateiy triea to gear down. "My first thoughts were to jump," he said. "But I didn't want the truck to roll free and hit a house or maybe some kids so I decided to stay with it." THE TRUCK almost miraculously came to a stop against the retaining wall but only a few feet from a large colonial-type home.
