Show Be Concerned About The Important Things : letter to editor : I would like to really see - you fellows of the National Food and Drug Administra- : tion earn your money for a : change. Instead of harping on saccharine which has been a :; i life saver for many diabetes '. people for thirty or forty : : years or more. Who would - : ever take saccharine in large : enough doses to give them :. cancer anyway? ';. WHY DON'T you work on a " . problem that has vexed many ' housewives and cooks of all kinds both male and female : for quite sometime now and is probably more harmful to our : : bodies than any of you would - - care to admit. The problem to which I " refer is that the manufac-: manufac-: . turers of baking pans, cookie sheets, bowls and almost any : dish of any kind, insist upon glueing their description of the article right on the inside : of the pan or bowl or on the :. side where the food goes. I don't know what kind of glue they use, but I'm sure that it - would do more harm to our :: bodies in every way than the little bit of saccharine that a diabetes patient or an over '''eight person would use. : YET YOU can soak the : : bowl or cooking pan or wha-; wha-; tever-- in strong cleansers and water over night but that sticker refuses to come off. The last bowls I bought which ' were like that I had to use Rubbing Alcohol and an S.O.S. scouring pad to even get the paper off. Then it still took a lot of elbow grease and more rubbing alcohol to get the glue off. By that time the bowls were hardly presentable presenta-ble to serve any food to guests in. Also I did not like the idea of using strong cleansers and nibbing alcohol in something that ! intend to eat out of. I have litterally thrown brand new pans for baking cakes in away because I have been unable to get that glue off. WHY DON'T you see to it that a law is passed making it crime for manufactures to put their labels and stores to put their price tags on the side where food is to go. It is just as easy for a customer to turn a pan or bowl or what have you over to read on the back what material the utensil is made of or what price it is. I would like to see you go to work on this problem and you would please many people who do their own cooking. Miss Pearl Wendel 175 East 2nd South Bountiful, Utah 84010 |
