Show Q Mlim ffl Para There will be "No Parking" notices prominently displayed along the Bountiful Handcart Days Parade route this next Friday, July 22. THE parade, which has grown to be one of the four major parades in Utah, has been greatly hampered by cars parked on both sides of the street, This has caused a number of major problems. To list a few: marching bands have grea difficulty getting down maiR street with the parade route narrowed by parked cars and people sitting in the street in front of the cars. THERE is a safety factor. People, especially small children are crowded up close to moving vehicles. There is the constant jeopardy of some small child moving into the way of a moving float. There is also the restricted view of the parade. Spectators on the sidewalk and lawns along the parade route cannot see the parade. It has been one of the most difficult parades in the state to view. CHIEF Anderson and the city council are in accord with the ruling on parking. The Main Street merchants will participate in seeing that motorists mo-torists are informed by displaying a "No Parking" sign on the day of the parade. We are asking for your cooperation in making the Bountiful Handcart Days Parade an enjoyable experience for everyone who attends and not just for those few who got their cars parked along the parade route. YOL'R cooperation is being asked to make the parade more safe for spectators and in providing a wider street for the parade entries. There will be sufficient notice no-tice concerning the "No Parking" ruling which will be in effect between the hours of 5:30p.m. and 8p.m. on the day of the parade. Cars not removed will be cited or removed at the owners expense. ex-pense. THE parade route will be north on Main Street to 3rd North and then south to Center Street on 1st West. |
