Show CjL"J HI GeilOiliQii A new city councilman is now serving in Woods Cross, sworn into office on Tuesday evening, July 5, by Recorder Alan T. Low. RAYMOND J. Van Uitert will complete the two and a half years remaining of Dale Rees' term now that he is leaving the city to make residence in Centerville. Mr. Van Uitert has been a Woods Cross resident for the past eight years. In that time he has completed a full term on the Board of Adjustments for the city and also been very involved in church affairs. At present he is first counselor in the Woods Cross Fourth Ward bishopric. AS councilman for Woods Cross City, Mr. Van Uitert will have charge of planning and zoning. Born in Salt Lake City, May 17, 1941 to Norma and John Van Uitert, he received all his education in Salt Lake City schiols, graduating from South High School in 1960. That same year he left for the Netherlands to serve an LDS 1 mission. (: . - ' V : If i it ' RAY VAN UITERT UPON his return in 1962, he joined the National Guard, serving six months at Ft. Gordon, Ga. and the remaining remain-ing eight years as a mess sergeant at Salt Lake headquarters. He married Karen Madsen of Salt Lake City on June 19. 1964. They are parents of four sons, Kevin, 11; Brian, 10; Todd, 5 and Brad, 3. MR. VAN UITERT is a baker by profession, having entered that field when he was a sophomore in high school, working for the Royal Baking Company. He has been head baker for Balsam Embers Restaurant and the Carriage House. He has also worked as head baker for Albertsons Cottonwood Cotton-wood outlet, and presently is the bakery manager for Dicks Market in Centerville. HE HAS many interests which mainly include his family. He enjoys aquariums, is a good cook (his children say "right on") and loves to portray Frankenstein on Halloween. The entire city knows Frankenstein when that erie day arrives. Success is extended to Mr. Van Uitert and his family, as this new challenge is accepted and projected. City council is an opportunity to serve the entire community, of which the Van Uiterts have been active ac-tive members since their arrival in the area, rsp |
