Show JAV1SJ She Worked Hard For Others SALT LAKE CITY -Utahns involved in the fight against cancer lost a friend and co-worker when Mrs. Walter (Dawn) Bain, of Farmington, died April 20 after a long struggle strug-gle with the disease. DAWN HAD been an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society for over 10 years at the time of her death. She had served in a variety of capacities, including as a door-to-door neighborhood volunteer volun-teer every April and as a Crusade Cru-sade Area Chairperson. In 1974, she was named co-chairperson co-chairperson of the Public Education Edu-cation Committee in the Davis South Unit. For several years she served on the Utah Division Divi-sion Executive Committee as the Public Information Chairperson. SHE WAS also willing to share her experiences as a cancer can-cer patient with others on local talk shows, and in visits to area high schools. A native Utahn, Dawn attended Brigham Young University for two years. She was an accomplished accom-plished pianist and accompanied accompa-nied musicians in various recitals recit-als and competitions. She was instrumental in enlisting en-listing the assistance of the Utah Pharmaceutical Auxiliary Auxili-ary in a promotional campaign for a colorectal screening project, pro-ject, sponsored by the Cancer Society and the Utah Pharmaceutical Phar-maceutical Association. SHE WAS a devoted mother of four children and wife, yet she responded to the needs of others with love and support. Dawn defied the odds in terms - DAWN BAIN of her longevity and used her gift of time wisely and well. She was posthumously presented pre-sented an award for Humanitarian Humanita-rian Service by the Women's Auxiliary of the Utah Pharmaceutical Phar-maceutical Association on April 30 at the Four Seasons Convention Center in St. George. The award presented by RaNae L. Park of Bountiful was accepted on behalf of the Bain family by Carolyn De-Rose De-Rose of Farmington. THE AWARD presented in memory of Mrs. Bain will bear her name and will be given to those associated with the profession pro-fession of Pharmacy who have given extended community service to their fellow men. Mrs. Bain had been an active ac-tive member in the Utah Divi- sion of the American Cancer Society.
