THE GUEST discussion leaders are Cheryl Bland and Cherry Connelly. Mehl Ree Downard will acquaint us with audio-visual aids and literature li-terature available through the PERC (Parent Education Resource Re-source Center). Sex education is a subject on which very little can be taught in Utah schools. Therefore, it is very important that children receive this information in the home. Some statistics that cause concern are: 1. UTAH has the third highest high-est pre-marital birth rate in the nation. 2. Studies indicate 50 percent of Utah's teenagers are sexually active. 3. The premarital pre-marital birth rate in Utah has increased 700 percent, since 1963. With the changes in society, soci-ety, the Valley View PTA feels ' a need to teach parents to teach their children throughout through-out their growing years. A question and answer session ses-sion will follow the parent representatives rep-resentatives talks. |
