Show Davis High Hosts 4-A Track Meet By DAVE WIGHAM Clipper Sports KAYSVILLE - Track coaches all over the state for the 4A schools have been waiting a long time for this week as this Friday and Saturday one of the top meets in the state takes place in the annual Davis High Invitational. DURING THE short time the Darts have sponsored this event it has become known throughout the state as one of the premiere events of the track season. The Davis people put on a top rated affair. This year the coaches are even more excited since the meet is for 4A schools only it gives the various coaches a chance to see just how their teams stack up for the state meet which is still a couple of weeks down the road. TRACK FANS in this area should attend this Davis High invitational since both Viewmont and Clearfield, two local teams, have solid shots at the team title. Then too Woods Cross, Bountiful and the host Darts have some top individuals that could very well finish high in both this meet and the state event. The two day event gets underway on Friday, May 6 at 10 a.m. At that time the trials and finals of the girls shot, girls javelin, girls high jump, boys discus, boys long jump and boys pole vault will take place. THEN AT 1 p.m. on Friday it will be the trials and finals of the girls discus, girls long jump, boys javelin, boys shot and boys high jump. At 1 p.m. the first running event will also take place with the finals, no trials, of the boys 3200 meters. THEN BEGINNING at 1:25 p.m. on Friday all the running trials will begin. In order they will be the girls 100 meter hurdles then the boys, in each event the girls run first followed by their male counterparts. The 100 meter dash, 400 meter dashes, then at 3:30 p.m. comes com-es the finals of the girls 1600 meters. At 3:50 p.m. comes the intermediate hurdles and finally final-ly the 200 meter dash trials. On Saturday the meet officials have set aside 11:30 a.m. for any run offs to take place, this is in case a race is needed to determine who goes into the finals.
